 How did Sixthhouse come about?

Sixth House Theatre came out of the Lowry's Hothouse programme, which was created to requests from independent theatre makers and performance-based artists across Greater Manchester for more opportunities to connect and make work together. The programme brought us together as six artists and provided us with space to share our practises with the aim of creating a show that blends our multidisciplinary, multicultural approach to storytelling.

What is the purpose of Sixthhouse?

The purpose of Sixth House is to explore new ways of making work, with sustainability, accessibility and innovation at its core. We are experimenting with new digital technologies and their integration into our practices to enhance our storytelling and develop new ways of making theatre accessible.

 How is Sixthhouse different?

Our difference comes from our difference! We're all artists from vastly different backgrounds working out how our practises can fit together, interact and create stories in ways we've never seen. It's so exciting to be in the room making work, we're always starting with a question and trying to find the answer can take us on so many journey

What can we expect from Sixthhouse over the next 12 months?

Over the next 12 months we'll be the Lowry Theatre's first ever resident company. We've got lots of exciting things in store, we're looking at ways to celebrate as many artists and art forms as we can and are focussed on creating our second piece of theatre which we're sure will be just as bold, mad and expansive as our debut show LIVES.
